The move 1.Nc3 is at present becoming increasingly popular and with good reason; it is the only logical first move that has always been treated in a stepmotherly fashion. Well-known opening books, generally devote less than 0.1% of their spece to it. In fact a more serious book about this opening, which tried to present background ideas and developing coherent theory, was badly needed.
The author is one of the pre-eminent experts on this opening. Van Geet developed many of the basic ideas about 1.Nc3 and brought them successfully into modern master practice over many decades.
